CFC NEEDS YOU
EXTENSION OF 2006 COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN
CAMPAIGN EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2006
The 2006 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), previously scheduled to end on Friday, November 3, 2006, has been extended to the full eight weeks allowed by CFC regulations. The campaign will now end on Friday, November 17, 2006. This will allow agencies to continue to having rallies and keyworkers to continue to solicit pledges through November 17. While no one should feel pressured to donate to CFC, we do want to stress the importance of ensuring that every one is asked to make a contribution. The number one reason that people give for NOT giving is that they were not asked to do so. The need is too great to miss a single donation. Each donation, regardless of amount, helps to meet critical needs.
We are approximately $750,000 off the pace where we were at the same time last year where we raised a record $4,552,277.00! Our currently participation level is running at a low of 21%. Last year 43 percent of our Federal community contributed. The current percentage of donor is at a record low. Some are not contributed because the perception is that there is no significant need. In 2001, the attack of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon spurred people into action. In 2004 it was the tsunami, and of course, last year the horrific hurricane season, particularly Hurricane Katrina. The need is still great. Those impacted by Hurricane Katrina have not fully recovered. Their are still environmental, health care (including mental health), housing, educational, social, and other issues that have an impact. Additionally, there are many persons, locally, nationally, and globally who feel that the issues affecting their lives are just as demanding as those felt by the people we've helped in the past.
Our contributions truly do make a world of difference to those who are on the receiving end. Ask someone who has received a scholarship and can now continue their education. Ask someone who is on the receiving end of a medical breakthrough. Ask a child who can participate in an after school program because of CFC contributions. Ask an AIDS patient, or a person who is living in their first home built by Habitat. No matter what individual passion Federal employees have, there is a CFC agency needing their donation.
The campaign office works hard to resolve any administrative campaign concerns because we know the importance of every gift. Please share this message with all your employees. We ask that you lead by example and be sure to make your campaign contribution and then encourage your employees to do likewise. Few of us will travel in space or do other things that might be recorded in history. This, however, is our opportunity to make a difference. Whether the history books record our deeds or not, someone's life will be enriched because we gave.

Our CFC contributions are significantly off what they have been in the last 3-5 years. Many people simply don't see the need this year. There's been nothing in the news about tragic events. Things seem calm enough. Others still say that no one has personally asked them to give.
TOP TEN REASONS YOU SHOULD STILL GIVE TO CFC
(Even If You Had Not Planned to Give This Year)
1. The need for your tax-deductible gift remains stronger than ever. Meeting the goal has nothing to do with the great demand brought on my human needs.
2. Many Hurricane Katrina victims remain in the Metropolitan Atlanta area and they still needing assistance while they try to get their lives back on track.
3. Many people, including large numbers of Federal employees, face health challenges and benefit from the assistance of health agencies that participate in CFC.
4. The need of children for after school care and other programs is staggering. Our CFC dollars help.
5. Our CFC dollars provide shelter for the homeless and the possibility of homeownership for many others.

6. Through your CFC dollars, trees are planted, and the air is protected while we enjoy the beauty of our surroundings.
7. A college education is made possible through your contributions, including scholarships for some Federal employees and/or their children.
8. Animals are rescued and often made available to assist the disabled.
9. There is at least one charity listed in the CFC campaign catalog that fits something you care about and can support.
10. Your contribution is valued, regardless of the amount. Your dollars joined with the contributions of your co-workers truly can make a world of difference in someone’s life.
